Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)
St Clement’s has a tradition of supporting mission. Mission partners are those with whom we have a regular financial and prayer commitment. At the moment we have eight such partners.
Overseas, we support work in Argentina (read more about Nick and Catherine Drayson on the CMS website), Mozambique and Uganda. We also support UK based missionaries, some of whom are working among the challenges of cultural diversity in areas like Southall and Luton and others co-ordinating overseas efforts for mission agencies and working towards translating the Bible into the heart languages of previously unserved people groups.
Each Lent we put a particular focus on our mission partners into our Sunday morning services and, throughout the year, there is a monthly prayer group to cover them as well as praying for other global needs that arise.
Mission is, of course, more than just a job for people working at a distance! All that we do in our locality is part of God’s mission to Oxford and you can read about that across the rest of this site.
